And Yet Another Electronic Instrument Stand
A Project From 2021
THE THIRD STAND I’ve built for electronic instruments contains no laser-cut components. It consists of small chunks of poplar, all cut in a dangerous fashion on the chop and table saws.
I had three small devices from BASTL: the Kastle, The Kastle Drum and the MicroGranny. They all shared the same DIY design sensibility with cases made from laser-cut PCB material. The two Kastles in particular were small and light and tended to move around as you turned their knobs with your fingers.
The stand has two tiers. In the top tier are the two Kastles. They simply hang suspended in openings, held in place by gravity. The MicroGranny slides into slots in the lower tier. Finally, I applied some graphic elements lifted from the MicroGranny’s manual to the stand.
Some time later, BASTL released a third Kastle, the Arp. Dang it. Now one of the Kastles is perpetually homeless.
