Webcam Stand
A Project From 2020
WHEN COVID HIT, like a lot of people, I worked remotely. I am extremely fortunate that I was able to continue working remotely right up to my retirement. Remote work suits me because I truly am a misanthropic hermit and a troglodyte.
Unfortunately, with remote work also came virtual meetings. (LOTS of them, it turned out.) I was issued a laptop by my Agency, but I preferred working on my home computer with its large monitor, and I didn’t have a webcam for my home computer. Circa 2020, it was not easy to find a webcam. Everyone needed one and stocks were low everywhere. I finally did find one (overpriced as heck), and like most webcams, it had an adjustable base so you could hang it off the top edge of your monitor. I sit a fair distance from my monitor, and from there, my Charlie Brown proportioned head looked like a pea on the webcam. So, I built a simple stand for it to get the webcam closer to my mug.
