Outdoor Uplight

WE HAVE A BIT of landscape lighting in our backyard. It’s nifty, but it also accentuated a dark corner on the patio. A few potted plants are clustered there, including a sickly little Japanese maple which seemed like a good candidate for an uplight. I had recently placed one under a smallish dogwood. Uplights defintely add a classy touch.

I had some 4-inch PVC pipe on hand that I had always intended to use for some sort of light, so I cut a length of it for the barrel of the lamp. I designed a simple base and baffle, and had those items 3D printed with ABS plastic. I used stainless steel rods (as usual) for the legs, although not threaded this time, which I guess is a bit of a sacrilege for me. On Amazon, I found a water-resistant socket assembly and I mounted an inline “smart” switch on the power cord so Alexa can turn the light on and off in the evening. The switch is not at all water-resistant, but it's housed in a water-tight junction box.
