MIDI Fighter Twister Stand and Overlay

I HAVE A DEVICE called the MIDI Fighter Twister (MFT). It has a bunch of knobs that can be used to control various functions of a software synthesizer.

The MFT has rings of LEDs around the knobs to provide visual feedback about each knob’s current position. But when the MFT is horizontal on the desk with me sitting behind it, the knobs obscure many of the LEDs.

To eliminate these blind spots, a stand was constructed to angle the MFT at 45° toward me. I used laser-cut birch plywood and a threaded rod, per usual. When I put in the order for the laser cutting, I also had some clear acrylic overlays made that slip over the knobs so their current functions can be labeled in a non-permanent fashion. Wet-erase pens work well for this. The ink doesn’t rub off as easily as dry-erase ink, but a little water thoroughly cleans the overlay.
