Homage to the Golden Mean
A Project From 2012-2023
IF YOU READ ENOUGH of these descriptions, it will start sounding like everything I build has speakers in it, and that’s not far from the truth. I guess I like to be met with a decent sounding source of music no matter where I am, and that includes the patio.
This structure exists for no other reason than to support a pair of outdoor speakers. I was obsessed with the Golden Mean at the time, so I based the design on rectangles with those proportions. Painted pine was the primary construction material, and threaded rods suspend the speakers.
The weather takes its toll, and the structure has needed repairs and a fresh coat of paint twice. At one point, I added a hanging light that cantilevered out from the framework, but it was decapitated when a tree fell across our patio.
